Buying a Tacoma within the Next Week, Have a few ?'s

Hey Guys,
Glad I came across this board. I am replacing my 92 Ford Explorer w/ a 2000 or 2001 Tacoma within the next week.
I have test driven a couple of these trucks and I love them!
Between 2000 and 2001, it doesnt make that much of a difference as to what year I get because I like the looks of both of them. But I do have other stipulations that I must adhere to when buying this.
1: 5 spd Manual Tranny........2: 4wd.............3: Xtra Cab......4:SR5

That being said, I have a few questions that Im hoping someone can answer for me.

1) Could any of you post a picture of a White 01, a silver 00, or a Maroon 00? These are the colors that I am considering and I want to get a feel of how they would look with the set up that Im porposing. Also, was curious as to the rims choices for these trucks as I have seen various stock set ups.

2) Do all of the SR5's come with the Bigger Tires with either the 15" or 16" Rims? All the ones I have seen do, but just wanted to make sure I wont be getting one of the smaller, lower to the ground Tacomas (which Im guessing are only the 2wd models.

3) How good is the factory CD player and speakers. I have almost brand new audio out of my Explorer (Kenwood Excelon Deck with Boston Acoustic Speakers and was just wondering how good the Tacoma stock audio was) and how easy is it to install both deck and speakers.

Sorry for the long post and Thnaks in advance

-Chris

3). I had a 98 Limited with the premium sound option. I really enjoyed the sound quality and the versitility of tape and CD. For me, it was plenty. But there are other guys on here who are going for world records in dB from their systems, and they will tell you to go aftermarket. It just depends on what you want and expect.

Congrats on getting rid of the Exploder! Welcome to yotatech.

First, welcome to Yotatech!!

Second, if I'm not mistaken all 00/01's SR5's come with 16" rims Stock and will probably come with the TRD package (off-roading package). The base 4X4 models come with 15" I believe..

Heres the pics you requested, thanks ebay..
Silver

White

00/Maroon, I dont think they came out with a Maroon until 01?

Hope you score yourself a nice Taco...

On my '02 the 16" rims were an upgrade from the 15" and it wasn't included in the SR5 packaging. It was something separate.

Congratulations on your purchase!
I'm loving my rig and even more working on mods and personalizing it for myself

BTW, we have a Sport Trac at work (Tacoma wannabe) and everytime I drive it I just wanna come back to my Taco and enjoy the ride

I have a 2001 SR5 4x4, but not TRD. It is the 2.7L four cylinder. It came with 16" rims, but I paid for them. Stock stereo is good enough for me (6-speaker, CD/tape), but as was previously mentioned aftermarket will be better. If you already have an aftermarket stereo, you'd probably do better popping that in. I read somewhere that the factory stereo has a built-in amp, so you might want to bypass that somehow to take full advantage of a higher-powered aftermarket stereo. I think your aftermarket speakers will sound better, too.
