Bull bar mounting?
I'm designing my own bull bar and I've come to a point where I need to know how to mount it. Can anybody point out where and how the ARBs and TJMs mount to the frame? Which holes are used and is there any drilling involved?
I took off my bumper today and took some pictures. Here

Corey, I know you had some problems at first mounting yours, but I couldn't find the post at ODW. Do you have pictures of the mounting locations?
Here's my preliminary design. I'll probably extend the grill guard to the corners and weld some plate underneath to hide bottom.
Thanks,
Steve

I can write all sorts of great stuff, however, it will be no good to you...Look at the way your OEM bumper is mounted and go off that. You have to mount your new custom bumper to the frame rails....with that in mind, fab up some mounts so you can do that.

Steve, I can't find the pics I had of the install.
They may have got lost during my last format.
The ARB mounts to the stock location just like the factory bumper does.
I'll try and get some pics later today.
There is no drilling involved with the ARB.
It's pure bolt on.
The trouble Jim & I had before was there was a hidden plate that had to be removed in order to slide the bumper channel over the radiator crossmember support.
We did not see it, and ARB neglects to tell you that in the installation book
I'm glad anyway we had trouble.
No telling how long it would have been before I got the winch.
When I had Central put the bumper on, they cut me a deal on the winch and I said go for it.
With the rig up in the air, the mechanic was able to see the hidden plates and unbolt them, and the bumper slid on like it was suppose to.
Oh, tried to get to those pics you linked here, and getting an error message.
Can't get in.

Oh Ok, just 4 bolts hold on the arb then? I thought the stock bolts looked pretty small so I figured there must be some other way to mount it. I'll check the link later today. Stupid webshots limited the number of folders so I can't add anymore there.

Pics are in
Steve, I scanned all three pages of the ARB installation manual, and took three close-up shots of the mounting bolts.
There are two bolts per side for a total of four,
and two bolts underneath per side for a total of four,
equaling eight all together.
The do mention in step # 7 on the first scanned page that there are 2x12mm bolts.
That would bring the count up to ten, but I did not see them.
I did not crawl all the way under and look up.
Perhaps there are.
They mention on page two that there are even more.
I just showered so next time I'm dirty, I'll crawl around on my back and see if I can find more that I missed.
There are no bolts to support the side bumperetts that swing back to the fender flares.
No drilling, it used all the stock holes.
Here are the scans and other pics.

Thanks Corey for the pics. I didn't get a chance to download them yet, but I will tomorrow.

What a timely topic! I just started working on getting my ARB mounted. Love the bumper, hate the instructions! Not a single diagram, if you can believe it! I am the kind of guy that needs diagrams. The written instructions are not too good either, maybe if I was Australian
Here is what I THINK is supposed to happen: four bolts across the radiator support, four bolts into the bottom of the frame (the gold bolts in Corey's photos), then the four bolts on what the instructions refer to as the 'Wing Brackets', which are the stock bolts that came off the truck originally. After seeing Corey's photos I think I am overcomplicating things, but I am going to have a WHOLE BUNCH of left over bolts, nuts, and washers! The only other places I can imaging bolts to fit are just behind the gold bolts. If you look at Corey's pics, you will see a large hole machined out of the vertical support. On my truck this opening is just barely out of line with a threaded bolt hole in the frame. Maybe this is a relief cut to allow for some kind of bracket that might go there on some applications?
