bug deflector

i recently ordered my bug deflector (egr 3d carbonfiber) and the guy told me that it would be 2 weeks before they would get one in because he said "for that year it's not very common". Apparently it's pretty popular since jason and phong and a few other guys i know have one...Which i suppose is fine and all but it's just a hassle since I was so excited to getting it before my trip to chicago..sorry for the complaining...

I was thinking about getting one for mine too. But I don't want to drill a hole in the hood and tape??? Dont know about that either. Which is better tape or drillled holes. And do they really work and are there any noises from having one on?

dloy, both jason b and phong said they like it and it doesnt involve tape or drilling...suppose to just fit in...but my hook is all dented up so i had to do something...and a bra would have just been too much hassle...

You should not have to drill any holes, at least on a 2nd gen you don't.

The holes are already there.

That is how mine mounts. Just 4 screws.

Any bug shield will move a little bit in the wind at freewway speeds.

Mine does, but it doens't flop around. It just moves a bit.
Noise? Can't tell from the loud whine from my tires, my exhaust, and the wind noise from my roof rack

After I put my gaurd on I did have a mystery noise rattle for a little bit. It turned out to be the molding around my windshield. Little silicone and it was all good. I guess the shield must have changed the flow of the air just enough to make it rattle. Other than that no wind noise noticed! mmmm memories.. a bugshield was the VERY first aftermarket part I bolted on my rig.. So long and so many $$$$ ago!! haha

Does the bug deflector really work well? Does it do a good job? Just wondering, because I don't have one and might like to get one? Thanks. :fireman:

It's more for keeping your hood right behind that area Ryan from getting chipped form rocks, not so much for your windshield.

But it does deflect rocks that may otherwise end up hitting your windshield.

I like the one I got, it's held up very well.
The brand is on my website in the mods section.

I have an EGR shield (not carbon fiber, black smoke), I didn't have to drill any holes.. The holes are pre existing and you just install clips inside those holes.

That is cool. I was really thinking about getting one, but I wouldn't know which to get. Also, I have a bar on the front of my grille guard that sticks above the hood. Do you think this would negate any affect the bug guard might have? Just wondering with that if it is worth getting.

Jason, that is sweet. Nice and slick!

I got mine from the local dealer for 75 bucks before tax( toyota OEM part). They wanted to charge me another 65 bucks for installation but I said 'Bull ˟˟˟˟˟'. so I took it home and put it on at my lunch break in about 15-20 minutes.

It looks very nice and no shaking or rattling at all.

I love mine:
Jason,
What brand is your hood guard? I think that is what I want to put on my new (to me) 2K millenium silver sport.

Thanks,

Michael
