Broken lugnut!!
I put on manual hubs and while putting on the last lugnut it broke!!! I am leaving friday and don't have much time to fix it....and I know I should.
I am driving 2000 miles..do you think I will be ok with one lugnut missing...I drove it on the highway and no vibrations....need you opinion. Front left wheel.

You should really get it fixed as soon as possible, but it'll be alright. Check the tightness of the other 5 lugs after about 100 miles, then again whenever you get gas, or about every 200 miles or so.

I haven't broke one on the front, but the rear stud was easy to replace. Use a punch, pound it out, pop the new one in, hammer it in. I think I put the wheel on, used the lug nut to "press" it into place by torqueing the lug down.

Do you think its really worth the risk? You can go to any car repair shop and probably have it done in no time flat if there not busy. I had mine done @ Just Tires and they did it for $25.

Ok....thats all I need to know....I will get it fixed.....I just thought it was going to be more expensive becuase of 4 wheel drive and have to take rotor off....I can fix myself, but wanted to wait until I got back. I am going to replace rotors, repack bearings and paint calipers...just don't want to do it twice...and since going on trip I don't have funds for new rotors yet.....I have done alot to this truck to get it ready for the road trip and then the lugnut problem...all I needed...just tired...need a break...thanks

Your fine, take the trip and when you get back fix it, it's just 1 lugnut their are still 5 others, nothin is gonna happen if the other 5 are just as tight as they always are, don't sweat it.
I've seen a few civics running around on 2 lugnuts down from 4 and thats on the front wheels

yea seriously, i know of friends that have run on 3 lug nuts when they were supposed to have 6 on that wheel....i was actually running on 3 lug nuts on my 94 pickup for the past day because i didnt get the studs yet..... i got them this morning and installed them, took about 20 mintues total time very easy job.... just buy a new stud from autozone for aboue 1.69$ and diy, save the 25$, seriously easiest thing ive ever done to a car besides like an oil change lol

I used to break rear lug studs on my Dakota all the time when I would change over to slicks for racing. That didn't stop me from racing it though. The Dakota had 6 studs and it held up fine with only 5 while launching it with a 150 shot of Nitrous on Full slicks. So I think you'll be okay.

It's quite a little job to get these fixed I just did it. You have to take your whole hub assembly apart to get the rotor off then you have to seperate the rotor from the hub which took an impact gun to get mine loose. I went ahead and replaced my bearing seals and repacked the wheel bearings too.

i didnt have to take off the rotor why do u guys? i have a 94 pickup..... i just took off the hub and the studs are in it... banged em out and then replaced with new ones... was literally 20 minutes.... i got drum brakes in the back anyways is there even a rotor? lol

hmm this just happened to me this weekend when i was putting in my lift. but if you have to take the rotor off if its a frot one (which mine is) then i think i might just take it to a shop. hope its not any more than $25. i'll just buy new lugnuts too, so i don't have to worry about it again. i think they're still stock lugs.

Take it to a shop if it's cheap.
If not, you can do following:
1) drill a hole in the broken lug nut
2) thread the hole
3) get a bolt that matches that thread in the hole and cover it with the strongest thread locker
4) screw the bolt into the hole
5) wait for the locker to strengthen
6) unscrew the lug nut using the bolt
Just an idea.
