Brakes redone and I have a tip!
I just did the PF pads and brembo rotors on my truck and have a tip!
1. Buy the new guide pins for the pads. You know the pins that the pads slide on. Buy them!!! I knew the ones that were on my truck where getting a little crusty, (probably from living in the rust belt) so I picked them up. It cost be 7 bucks for all 4 pins including tax.
SO I went to pull the calipers off to replace the rotors and all, well 3 of the 4 pins were just rusted in place. I got the passanger side one done and went to the drivers. The pins were so bad that I had to cut them out of the caliper with a dremel tool. Finally one pin was so stuck that I had to take the caliper off and drill it out.
From now on......I'm just replacing the pins each time. For 7 bucks, I'll pay that every time!
I also had to file out the rust scale on the calipers, where the side of the pad meets the caliper housing, just to get the new ones in. Anyone else had a problem with rust?

The guide pins for your 99 is 90240-06014
we stock em and sell em.
Note: You should put a light coat of grease on these to prevent rusting/seizing.....

Do you have a part number for the guide pins? Are the brakes the same on a 99 Runner?

I did do that. I got some brake grease from autozone. But I wonder if it's still there. Brakes get pretty hot. I know I used anti-seize before on the pins and it was all gone.
