"brakes"

I am the proud owner of a 2001 4wd 4Runner. But, after the vehicle has been sitting for a long time, the brakes grab and the whole truck shutters. The pedal is starting to have major sensitivity issues. It seems like the issue is getting worse and the truck only has to sit for a shorter amount of time. At speed the brakes seem to be fine but at a slow roll it happens. The roters do not seem to be warpped otherwise I would feel that in the pedal. Has anyone had this problem? It seems like it started after I left the truck at a friends house parked on an incline with the emrgency brake on for a long weekend. Any suggestions?

As simple as it sounds, Wabbit's suggestion is spot on. Sounds like the brakes just need a good once-over.

Also, just FYI, try to use a more specific title for your thread next time - if case somebody has the same problem/symptom, it will be easier for them to find it.

Was it parked outside or inside when it while it sat?

If it was outside, I imagine rust may be an issue. Just driving it and exercising the brakes may do just as much good as anything.

It was outside. I have been driving it a week thinking the same thing. You would think that the rust was gone by now. The roters look clean. Reckon it could be diaphram on master cylinder?

At this point it could be anything.

I always start with the cheapest stuff and go from there.
