For a break job, just use your OEW crank jack to jack it up then set it down on the jack stand. My floor jack blem a internal seal or something and doesnt work so thats what I had to do. Although to make it so I didnt have to crank as long I put a piece or 4X6 underneith the OEM jack. I cranked the rig up slid the jack stand underneith it then lowered it down onto the jackstand. Simple as that.

I got a michelin 3.5 ton jack from sams club awhile back, it lifts fast and I really like how it has a pad in cradle so you dont scratch something: http://www.hugediscountmall.com/Heav...jack._p572.htm
I have the sears jackstands. But, I can jack up my t100 which weighs a heck of alot more than the 4runner b/c of my tools and other gear and it lifted the entire front end just fine.

Only cause I don't have that much money to get jack stands, floor jack, and then all the actual brake materals (i.e rotors, pads, etc.) all at once...
The Stands I could afford at the moment along with materials...
I would like to get a floor jack eventually....
Maybe christmas....
Gonna ask for a complete new set of tools too (olds ones still work but it would be nice to have the feeling of a complete set, maybe even larger set to always have in the back...)
Now just to find a retailer near me that has the Brembo rotors instead of me having to pay what they cost in shipping....

Here are pics of my right rotor....
The left one is good....
What could cuase this to go in a matter of just changing the tires?
The rotor is like a freakin record.....
Put it on a turn table and it will sing the life of my 4Runner.....

like the pic in your avitar, all the mud and stuff has pebbles and rocks in it and god knows what else. the longer you play in that crap, the more harm COULD be done to your brakes. So i vote muddin attributed ALOT of that!

This particualr grinding started after I got my new Tires put on.....
They did something to screw something up....
Because before I went in there still felt like pad was left on that caliper...
And then when I pull it outta the lot it feels liek the abs is kicking it...
It wasn't till later after I went to pull out a friend and then up to the city to see a show with another friend did i notice that it wasn;t my abs but actual grinding....
And I never noticed any braking issues after off-roading before...
but maybe a mixture of 20k and the off-roading could have done that.....

How did you even stop with those things? Looks scary...
Nope, and I never will because it's unnecessary. I don't tow anything, nor do I race my truck, so I have no need for wasting money on overhyped brakes. I rebuilt my 150K calipers, installed some Hawk LTS pads and flushed out a lot of the old fluid. Brakes are great, and the truck still has the original rotors from 10 years ago. Might need a new M/C, and thats one area where I am looking for an upgrade. There's a big thread about why I believe that the Tundra brake "upgrade" isn't much of an upgrade. It culminated in me being proved wrong since I'm not an engineer and becasue I haven't posted enough dumbass, cutesy comments on this website...
As far as your rotor problem goes, don't blame the rotors. Did you bed your pads correctly? Was the rotor cleaned before installation? Do you torque your wheels properly? Is a caliper piston sticking (VERY common problem with dirty high mileage fixed calipers)? Did you glaze the rotor by towing something really heavy or leaving your foot on the brake pedal after extended periods of brake usage (you can feel a variance as small as .00001" in the brake rotor through the pedal)? Everyone is so quick to blame the equipment, and something as simple as a solid cast iron brake rotor isn't going to vary in quality between a $35 rotor and a $50 rotor, so focus on operator error first...
midget, have you done this swap yet? i have heard nothing but rave reviews on the added stopping power from BIGGER calipers! makes since to me! i would lov to hear why you dont think they add more stopping power
anyhow, i made the mistake of buying the "cheapest" rotors i could get. never will i do it again. they are beginning to develop a slight shutter after only 10k

Well they didn't look like that till around noon Friday....
I am gonna focus more on mechanic error first....
In my 100K+ miles I have driven in my entire life (since I was sixteen, now I am 19)
This is the first time I have ever had such a brake issue.....
I have never done my own brake before...
Ever....
When I got the Runner back last November off of eBay (yes I know huge risk),
We noticed the brakes were a little grabby and pulsating but it wasn't bad.
I just found the invoice from when I took it to get brakes done in January they replaced both the rotors and the all the pads...
And it felt as good as new..
So for them to go in 20K is a little odd to me....
The caliper piston does not feel like it's sticking....
Thats the only time that I did any major towing, but that was 5k ago.....
The only time I coulde think I ever held the brake after an extend period of usage is slowing down from 75 to 0 and then get stuck in NYC Rush hour traffic.....
I don't think it is an operator error...
I am use to driving and SUV..
My first vechile may have been a car...
But I learned to drive in a chevy suburban
And a month before I got my Runner I was drivng stepdads 02' Runner Around...
And his brakes are still good....
So I just don't know anymore, I am going to do the brakes myelf and make sure verything is perfect to a T and see what happens...
