Brake Problem. Help!

I was wondering if anyone can troubleshoot a problem I'm having with my 4Runner's brakes. I already changed the master cylinder because I thought that was the problem. The problem is the pedal is sticky just before it goes all they way down (to the normal positon- not to the bottom of the floor). To give you an example: say the pedal travels 3". You can step 2" smoothly and there's a sticky portion before it travels the last inch. (BTW, the inches are not actual). If you drive and come to a stop slowly it will fully stop without going that last inch. But if you have to stop more abruptly then you have to go that last inch and the stop is more jerky. When the engine is off the brake feels normal with no sticking. The engine has to be running before this problem occurs. The pads and shoes are hardly worn. Any ideas?

Try this

Try pumping your brake pedal abut 100 times repetitively. It will make a beeping sound and some dash indicators will come on, but go until you get to 100. Might work, might not. Try it and see.

you might want to try and drain all your brake fluid. i had a similar problem, except mine was the master cylinder. there was goo and slime in the coolant, part of what was making the brakes stick.

White SR5, no offense but are you serious or are you pulling my leg?

outdoorfever, actually the first thing I did was check my rear brake shoes and cleaned them up. Since everything was fine I then flushed out the brake fluid. The brakes were still the same so I decided to change the master cylinder.
