I bought a tuner from Radio Shack and it didn't work It was a clearance model for $9.99 or something. i ended up taking mine to a two-way radio place to get tuned.

Mossback, you gonna sell any of the ones you make?

Cool

That was the Idea. I need to see how they turn out. These are solid pieces of steel and the end needs to be reduced a bit to accommodate the shackle. I'm going to make 4 and go from there. Its time to call in a few favors from my metalworking friends

I think its going to be a 7/8" shackle on the end. A 3/4, although strong enough, just seems a bit small. The 1" would be great but it doesnt leave much meat left after the hole for the pin is drilled.

I also was thinking two perpindicular holes an inch apart where the receiver pin would go through. This would allow you to flip it 90 degrees If'n ya want.

All these Ideas, I need to get workin on this.

My wife seems to think the 4Runner never needs anything. She couldn't be more wrong.

Yep, this is the same woman who watched the temp guage peg in her Tercel due to a bad tstat - kept driving and warped the head. Now, all her comments about vehicles are taken with a grain of salt and I pretty much do what I can afford...

If your mobile phone was activated in CA, when you dial 911 the number is routed to a CHP dispatcher. I believe this is the case no matter where you are in the country.

If you're lost and not knowing exactly where you are this could be a very bad thing.

I figure having channel 9 on the CB is just one more emergency tool to have. Unless, of course, anyone knows if that's just bull? Doesn't seem like too many people have CBs anymore...

Quick thought, why does everyone use that Firestick? I've inquired with a bunch of truckers here, and most seem to think the Wilson 5000 whip is the best. What kind of range are these things getting? where are you guys mounting them?

I'm going to order two receiver shackles from Keisurs link, tomm. Thanks!

02runner:

many people have their likes and dislikes using firestik. Firestik is actually a pretty good company that makes good fiberglass antennas by far the best are whip antennas. I was initially gonna get the wilson 5000 but decided to just get the wilson fiberglass... just a preference but i personally like wilson antennas better...

can't go wrong with either one though
