Well I bought a Cobra DX 19 III off ebay today! I needed something small and compact, but also wanted something with a PA-Out, thats why I didn't go with the 75 WX. I also went to GI Joe's and bought a 2' Antenna and mount for the side of the hood. I will have pics soon, but am very excited. Anyone know a good place to mount it OUT OF SIGHT in a 1st Gen?

 

Middle console... glove compartment?

i don't know about the first gens but it fit perfectly in the ashtray area on my second gen. just take the mounting braket out (2 screws) and i had to cut a little of the plastic out of the back. get some velcrow just in case and you're done. but as you said you're looking for something out of site. the ash tray wouldn't be all that out of site. so maybe under your seat?
