Take the opportunity to buy an Optima. Research the Red/Blue/Yellow top variations and pick what suits your needs/future needs best. If you ever want a winch, I'd look at their deep cycle varieties (I think Blue and Yellow only come in Deep Cycle). I'm waiting for my battery to die to upgrade to an Optima... but I just can't rationalize a new battery so long as the one I have is working so well.

I use a battery similar to the Optima Red-top, but with alittle more cold-cranking-amps. The price, and performance of this battery is about the same as the Red-Top, so i'm satisfied

Optima battery is a waste of money unless you have special needs. Any good battery will do the same thing or what you need it to do. Interstate is a great battery for one and there are others that will cost much less.
I'm not nocking the Optima line of batteries , just the price if you don't need it and the average guy doesn't really need it. Mike

Get the Optima. It's NOT a waste of money and you'll be glad you have it when you need it. I left my 150w KC's on all night, and it still started in the morning with no hesitation. This is the second rig I've put a Red Top in, and it's worth every penny.

But I agree with Beartracker that the AVERAGE driver doesn't need one. But most of us are on here because our vehicles and vehicle needs aren't average
