Unhappy Big Problems

Well, after avoiding an accident with a stupid import racer, I ended up driving into a telephone pole and taking out my front bumber and misaligning my front wheels.

I removed the bumber, lower valence, brackets, and end pieces. No damage was done to the frame or body. The engine wasn't hurt either. I just ordered brand new parts (above parts) from partstrain.com. The guys at the body shop were going to charge me $75 just for the chrome bumber alone - I got it for $36. Overall, they planned on charging me $400 for the entire fix up, I'm going to do it myself for about $150.

I took the truck into the shop to get it's brakes fixed and the front wheels aligned. A few hours later they called to say that the front discs we're warped and scratched. (They claimed they were also to thin to be machined.) The pads were worn all the way down.

*Note all my brakes were stock since I've only started driving this truck in the last few months. Before now, it was just parked next to my house. It used to receive about 5,000 miles a year.

Also, the rear differntial main seal was leaking onto the rear drums, so that has to be fixed.

In all, the brake problems are going to cost alittle over $700, not including the wheel alignment. They said I'd have the truck back on Monday. We'll see...

I just replaced my front rotors and pads. Net cost: ~$155.00

It was pretty simple, actually.
