No matter how tall your truck is, you will never crush a car with 2wd.

A truck that big is obviously just for show/no go and speaks volumes about its owner.

You nver know untill you try it. Once I install the lift and lockers. Anyone want to donate a car so I car try can crush it. IM pretty sure if I regrear right and have a nice locker in the rear, I can crush a car. I've climbed some pretty big hills and small wallls with my current 2wd lift. Its all about momentum.
As for the wide tires. I dont know, it just looks cool. I can have a place to sit when Im not inside my truck. Plus the look intimidates the crap out of soccer moms in thier Range Rovers. Once again thoes are all Hawaii trucks. There are higher 1st and 2nd gen 4runners and other Tacomas with SAS swaps running huge tires. And yes they do participate in the mud bog competitons. So they are actually used. But still most of the high lifted trucks dont see any trails.

With a little bit of trimming you can completely clear 35's with ZERO lift.
You said if you had the money or the time... Well the money is about $10 and the time is a day in the driveway and you can clear 35's.
We are running about ~4" of "lift" just because that happens to be the right amount so that the truck feels balanced between extension and compression travel. A lower center of gravity is better for wheeling period, big lifts are for looks and that's cool but don't make excuses about clearing tires or not skidding on skid-plates or whatever. Just admit that you like the look of a big old truck and that's it. You can't defend the undefendable. I'm not trying to bag on you but you have your facts bass-ackwards.

I think its a matter of personal preference....I like lifts and the trails I go on have nice amounts of ruts and mud...so lift and bigger tires are a necessity not unless ya wanna take the puss way out and straddle it. I personally like flex for traction in different places than other people. Doesn't mean I bash em...just personal preference and yeh...intimidation on the rich soccer mom biatches!

As far as the first one is concerned...well all of them...its overkill, in my opinion anyway. But to each his own.
