Yeah, I have some too. But l think my largest is 3/4". I would go buy one, but I am in such a small town, that I doubt there will be a tool like that here. I will just wait until I go back to Las Cruces next week for Christmas break.

Well as long as you didn't go ahead and take the drain plug our first you should be ok.

Good luck. I also keep a 5' piece of of like 2.5" pipe laying in my garage for just suck ocations. Comes in handy for changing axel nuts or when you buy a 4runner from Toyota and you go to changed the oil and have to use a cheater pipe to get the drain plug out. You should have head the words I said about that.

I hate when I can't find 6 point sockets in the bigger (20mm+) metric sizes

For changing the axle nut on my Probe I had to have a 27 and 28 or something like that. The new one was 1mm smaller than the one I took off. Same threads and stuff but the ones you can fine are m- expencive.

1. Heat the area around the plug until it is cherry red. this will expand it so the plug will become loose. If you heat the plug, it will just get stuck in more.

2. Get a wax crayon or candle, and rub it around the plug where it screws into the housing. The heat will suck the wax into the threads and break out any rust/corrosion

3. Back out the plug like buttah.
4. if it starts to squeal, re-heat.

great tool trick sean. i haven't read this whole thread but take it to a shop and have them take an air tool to it, manually tighten and go back to where you were working on it

Buy a new plug and gasket.

Use a cold chisel and a hammer at the edges of the old plug to knock it loose.

Apply anti seize to the threads on the new plug, install.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I got home this weekend and finally got it off. I went to Harbor Freight and bought some stripped lug nut remover sockets. They are 1/2" drive sockets reverse threaded on the inside. They cut their own threads in the bolt and it comes right out. I put the 1" socket on the bolt, threaded it on, and got a 3' cheater bar on it. Piece of cake!

+1 PB and heat. I had a heck of a time getting my drive shaft loose from my IRS Cobra. PB for an hour then a torch for less than a minute did the trick.
