FZJ80 with front and rear factory lockers would be very nice.
However, I've never seen build quality that compares to my new (used) 2000 UZJ100. This thing is very smooth. Velvet.
Funny, I started looking for a 60, then 62, then 80, then ended up with a 100. Taco got too small for the family

If you're talking one Toyota that comes closest to my needs, I'd say a '98-'99 FJ-100, pre-electronic driveline controls. Good, low mileage examples are available for $15K now.
But there is one very special Toyota that comes to mind that few have heard of let alone seen or driven. I'm the proud caretaker of 1 of 54 imported into the U.S., a 1967 Toyota 2000GT. It'll be in a museum piece eventually, where many of the rest are now.

I have to agree with the 2000gt. That thing was so ahead of its time. If I recall, the engineer that designed went on to design another nice car...
The Datsun 240Z!
Unfortunately there were only something like 54(as mentioned above) imported, and something like 1100 built total!
How nice would it be to have a 2000gt parked next to a MKIV supra TT!

A friend of mine have one and it's sweet.
Here they're very very searched and very expensive altought having lots of km. Is the best truck to going down to the Sahara. Morocco, Mauritania and those countries are full of french and spanish HDJ-80's.
Also it's incredible the HZJ-105. Frame and suspension of a HDJ-80 with HDJ-100 body with 4.2 Atmospheric Diesel engine. Undestroyable.
They're sold in Gibraltar because they don't meet the european pollution laws and are those who the UN use. Are available with 5 or 10 people capacity.
There are companies importing them and modifying them, adding turbo and intercooler to meet the Euro III laws. With those mods the engine is the same as the HDJ-100. 4.2 Turbo Diesel Intercooler with 214HP.

I'm going to vote for the 80 series of Land Cruisers. I just bought mine last thursday, and I love it. After some very fine 4runners and pickups, I didn't think it got better than toyotas "fit and finish".... and then I got impressed again by my 80. It's built great, and feels wonderful.

I liked the ride better, definitely feels more powerful than the 3.0, I like my 4runner, but am too used to the 80, I am seriously considering selling the 4runner to go back to an 80, even though it is a little more expensive and I will have to sell my motorcycle to make it happen.

Gas mileage.... I get about 15mpg. That may sound horrible, but it's what alot of guys with the 3.0L are getting... especially with big tires. If it's a concern for you, do the math... it's usually a small difference in monthly gas expenses. And if you're just obsessed about mpg's, then don't get an FJ... you'll fret yourself to death.
I like the SFA of the FJZ80, and the articulation is wonderful. I'd say to those with just experience with 4runners and pickups that the LandCruiser is a wonderful design that has it's place. It's not for everyone, but it was for me. It certainly merits a test drive

I think its 270ft-lbs stock right?
In Spain you can import one modified to accomplish the Euro III anticontamination laws for 56.000€. It's a lot of money but it's a brand new Toyota solid axle coil sprung 4.2 turbo diesel intercooled rig!
This is another importer who sells those Yotas in Germany, but without turbo and intercooler http://www.extrem-mobil.de/ or http://www.cruiser-connection.de/cgi...ZFEFZERfOQqpkX
There are also Yotas HZJ 71, 78 and 79, with the same engine, 4.2 atmospheric diesel.
Flexing it!
