stay far, far away from thornbirds, they're junk. if you want cheap, get some LTBs, more agressive than the TSL and much cheaper. only come in a 34x10.5(pretty much a 33) and a 33x13.5 though

check out the dayton timberline mt's, i paid in your price range in canadian $$ so you should be able to get them at a much better price. having said that, mine are 31x10.5x15, so they will be a bit more but still should be in your range.

From my experience, the standard TSL is the most durable, least expensive, and best performer. It can get flat spots in the morning, but they go away quickly, and it drives great on road.

If you're goin to and from college, id get a standard M/T or A/T instead.....Im going to college and im proabably gonna run All terrain (proabably mastercraft) If you think about it....you will proabably be driving on the road alot more than off, id look for something good for both, but more for the road...just something to think about.

So the standard TSL are best b/c there are good on road and are the very durable meanin wont wear down easy and i heard they are self cleaning. are they mud terrain tires the TSL
what about the TRXUS m/t?
LTB are too wide? they might look funny on my 4runner and kill the gas milage even more than the 12.5 will
Opinoin stil welcome

I got 31x11.50 TSL's on 15x8 MT rims. Heavy tires....gotta keep the tire pressure checked and rotated regularly for even wear on the life span. They are bias ply which means they wear alot faster than normal radials....but I do get EXTREME traction. You will replace them within 6-8 months if you see alot of highway mileage and do the weekend warrior thing. They do vibrate ya in the morning when they are cold but about 2-3 miles they warm up and howl away. I personally like them for the traction...but my next set are going to be the Mickey Thompson Baja Crushers which are new to the market and still not priced yet. They do have their up sides and down sides...

15x8s seem to be the concensus.
How many road miles do you plan on seeing a week? If you're going back and forth from college, the tires that you're talking about are gonna be a waste of money.

Use the search at the top...search the forums for this stuff...don't want to be an arse about this but just see what the majority say. Look on the interco tire website and choose which one would best suit your needs. They go over every tire on there they make.

the sx is more hardcore they wear real fast...I'd go with LTBs if price is your issue wearing is about the same but they grip better and 34s fit real well on our trucks. The Trxxus is better on road then the SSR then the reg TSL and LTB.
Here's a couple pics of my truck with 34x10.5 LTBs
