+1

Also a couple cans of black spray paint for a rusty frame can make it look 100% better

Grey wire mod = for vehicles with a stock e-locker it allows them to run the diff locked in 2hi and 4hi.

2 low = the only ways to achieve this are either get a dual transfercase setup, or for less than $50 (in keeping with the thread) unbolt your front driveshaft!

The light just went on!

2lo, as in your hubs unlocked and your t-case in low. Not sure why I didn't get that before.

I, my friends, am an idiot.

This is not true. The grey wire mod is accurate, but not the other bit.

If you have push button 4wd like I do, you can make it so that the only way that 4wd can be engaged is by pressing that button. Stock 4Runners like mine with the non-j shift are set from the factory to automatically switch to 4wd when you go into low range. All you have to do is disconnect one plug on top of the transmission to disable this feature (if you can call it a feature).

the only thing that sucks about that mod is if you roll or flip on the passenger side the keys fall out and the truck is still running.

Is there a Do-It-Yourself walkthrough for installing a deckplate? Are there any negative effects of one?

Thanks!

Here is a thread that should help: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/a...s-most-113806/

But for your question, the only downside to it is if you cross real deep water it is easier for it to get sucked in. Otherwise no, there are no downsides to it.

Reminds me i need to update that list and add some of these to it. I just need links for some of them... Well that thread is now updated with a lot more mods, getting close to enough to deserve a sticky actually if you ask me...

My favorite ones are the fire extinguisher, and the tie down and cheapo bungee cord to hold all my stuff in the back.
