Benefits to a deckplate mod.

Yes it is easy. Its been covered in a million threads here, it would be to your benefit to use the search function to find the answer you're looking for. My opinion of the deckplate mod is probably in the minority.

DOESN'T ANYONE SEARCH ANYMORE????
DOESN'T ANYONE LOOK IN THE TECH WRITE-UP SECTION????
geez
The 3.4L is starved for air based on how the airbox is designed. Doing the deckplate will relieve that situation, giving a dyno proven net gain of about 6hp.
The added noise comes from the air being sucked into the box through the new hole. It's noticeable, it's a nice addition to the sound of your tailpipe.

I like the sound of my deckplate, flowmaster 50 and turn down pipe all working in harmony with each other.
I literally had a guy ask me the other day if I was running a v-8 in it. He was a semi-buddy of mine, so thats why he asked. But I was like.. no way dude. He said it sounded way gnarly, then said he thought it was like a v-12 or something when I pulled up into th eparking lot. hahaa

That's what is nice about it though - you can just plug it up when you want to and you're back to stock. I saw about a 1.5mpg drop after the mod. I plugged up last week to see if the mpg comes back up or if I was dreaming.

just dig in there, you'll figure it out. sorry if that sounds harsh, but at some point you have to pick up the wrench and start turning it. if you get a few bolts undone and the airbox does not pop off, then find another one to turn out. and enjoy it! btw, there will be a couple screws too.
