banging noise in front brakes after perf. friction pad install?
hey guys. i know it is somewhat common for the 4runner to get the "bang" from the pads while changing the directions for the first time you apply the brakes. something about the pads not being completely locked, and having a little room between themselves and the callipers. i have a 98 runner with the factory 16" wheels. i put pbr brake pads in the last time i did front brakes, and did not have an issue. this past time (about 5k ago), i put in performance friction pads. since the install of the new pads, i have the bang/clunk. it is rather annoying, and i was wonderring if this is common from the pf pads or not. i am almost ready to change them out. but if there is something simple i can do to stop it, then i will def. do it, as i have no other compaints with the pads.

i did verify that everything was installed properly. and it is. the only thing i can think of is that the slots in the pads that the retaining pins slide through are a little more of an oval shape as opposed to a circle. i am contributing this to the fact that these exact pads work in other makes/models. either that, or i am just pulling that out of my butt, and i have no idea what i am talking about, but these brakes are NOT hard to work on at all. i can't see where i could have missed something.

nope, everything is in place. the springs are in place as well. the clip part in the center of the springs are on the inside part of the calliper. the pins are in so the springs line up with the holes in them. all the shims are in place as well as the huge clip that goes over the pads.
