backspacing question???

So right now I am putting on pro comp's 4in susp lift, how much backspacing do I need on 15x8 rims with 33x12.5 tires? whats the min max i need to have? what options do I have to go with? My friend runs 3.5 backspacing on his, but i was just wondering what the min is?

Check with the lift kit vendor, some of tham have maximum backspacing limits. I think most are 3.75" or maybe 3.5". Minimum is whatever you want. Less backspacing = wider track = wheels stock out farther from the truck. More chances of tires rubbing, likely to need fender flares for legal tire covereage, etc. Generally 2" is about the least backspacing you can get on a normal wheel.

Again, either read the lift kit instructions or contact the lift kit supplier's tech support folks. They should know the answer, after all they were the ones that designed the kit.

ok, i need to understand exactly how this backspacing works, I am really confused... so a wheel with 2 inches of backspacing would stick out more than whels with 4 inches of backspacing right?
