I just went through this whole backspacing saga a week ago preparing to order my new wheels for my project build. After reading all those searched threads, I still came up empty handed but a litte more knowledgable. You've got a 2nd gen as I. The question is what rim are you going with and what size? Also, are you bumping up your tire size to 32X11.5 or sticking with the 31's? If you're running the stock rims and 31's your factory's have 4.25" backspacing (FYI). Give me details and I'll give you more info that should help.

That's where I'm getting mine but I'm getting the spoked model. I till need to know what tire size/rim size you're wanting to order to suggest proper backspacing. Also, how far do you want your tires to stick out? Are you looking for this look or trying to keep the tires as tucked in as possible without causing rubbing or wheel interference with the brake caliper/control arms? Are you also aware of the bolt pattern you need? Give me some more info and I can help you out more.

Your correct about the 6 on 5.5. On my 95 I've got 15x7 with 10.5's on right now, but not close to rubbing anywhere. That's very odd you have rubbing, is that your factory set-up?
Here's what I'll suggest (because that's what I'm putting on my 95). I'm getting the rockcrawlers in 15x8 w/ 3.75 inches backspacing because I"m going to 32x11.5s (but if you have 15x7 rims it's not necessary, 32x11.5s will work on 15x7s). I'm getting this backspacing to mitigate the increase width of the rim/tire. This is 1" more than my stock set up as I'm increasing wheel/tire by a width also (this is not the rule of thumb). The 1" increase in backspacing should push my larger rims out to keep the tires/wheels from interfering w/ anything underneath. It will also add a slightly wider stance (which will improve handling) and add a better look. It should work out, but won't truly know until I get back to the States in Nov to test it myself. If you're sticking w/ 15x7 on 10.5s then keep the current backspacing you have at 4.25". If you want to widen the stance up a bit go for 3.75" BS. There're are only so many options for the rockcrawlers on 4wheelparts for BS in the different widths/bolt patterns. I dont' think there is a 4" BS option but there might be and that'll add very slight width in you stance.
