Back window wont go down
hey guys i went to my 95 4runner today and my back window wont go down. I put a motor out of my old 94 in it and it doesnt seem to be the motor that is the problem because it didnt change anything. The switch still works and whenever i push up on the button it makes a click and when i push down nothing happens at all. If anyone knows or thinks they know what might be wrong feel free to answer because one of the flukes on the 2nd gens is you cant get in the back very easily if the window breaks and i would love to be able to roll it down again.

my tailgate window will go down but the key will not even turn the lock to roll the window down. The only way I can get into the back is to roll the window down from the inside and then open the tailgate. Is it the key or the lock? I dunno.

If the rear window still goes up and down with the key, your console sw. inside the cab is wore-out. I think I paid 28 bucks for a new one to the stealership.

yeah - check the switch
i felt like the biggest idiot when I realized it was simply the window lock - apparently I had accidentally pressed it down and thought the switch on the console had gone bad...
very embarassing...

The panel on the inside of the left hand rear wing hides the 'brain' for the rear window. Its the size of a packet of cigarettes. Inside the casing is a circuit board with lots of components on it but sitting in the centre of it are six black relays.
I have read here of someone who solved his window woes by swapping some of these relays around (how the hell he got the damn things off the circuit board I will never know though coz I went there and ran away in terror - they is fitted tight reeeel tight). Make your own mind up but having lubed till I could lube no more my window still packs up after a week so I reckon this 'brain' is the answer to the problem
