automatic trans. filter??
I have used the search and found conflicting threads some say there is just a screen to be cleaned other swear there is a filter to be replaced. I have a 99 and would like to know which is correct. I know the dealer says just a screen to be cleaned, but I also have known the dealer to be wrong. so whats the deal?

trans filter
Hi, I recently replaced mine, it was just a screen, and so was the filter in my friends Nissan. I am looking into a larger trans cooler and while I have the lines apart I am going to install an inline filter element since the screen is just that! You can go to an AutoZone and have them look it up and hand it to you, open the box and see if you have an element or just the standard screen which I am 99% sure that’s what you have, its not that hard to replace, just a little dirty. I used Mobile 1 full synthetic and my truck shifts smoother and quieter than it has in YEARS.
