Aussie locker

Aussie locker
Anybody running one up front in there 4runner. I drive mainly on the street but plan on doing some wheeling when I can. I am getting the 4.88's set up this week and I figure it would be the best time to put a traction device up front now since everything will be out anyway.
I know an ARB would be best but I have already spent about $8000 on this truck in the past 6-7 months and funds are running a little dry.
So, Anybody running an Aussie in the front without lockouts?

I, too, am interested in feedback. I'm seriously contemplating an Aussie Locker up front as well along with either 4.56s or 4.88s

Don't know if it helps, but a lot of MY 86-95 rigs have them, including mine. If you're going to put it in the front, you'll probably want to also put manual hubs on. I have manual hubs and mine has been just fine for quite a while. Search the 1st gen forum for more.

After I get a lock rite for the rear axle, I want an aussie for the front as well. you should be able to install into manual or ADD front axle.

They make them for the 7.5" front end, but not for the rear, at least not for a 3rd gen. There was already one thread started about this not too long ago https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/aussie-locker-toyota-8-0-v6-soon-100964/

I just did a search on TTORA, but didn't find much that was useful. Everyone pretty much says get an ARB, but I can't afford one! I thought I read somewhere that running a non-selectable front locker on IFS was hard on it and you would be more prone to breaking CV's. I might try it though. I had lunch box lockers front and rear on my Wrangler and that thing would go everywhere. Might be interesting to see what a dual locked, mild looking 4Runner would do.

I think the big thing is to have manual hubs if you're going with a front (auto) locker. I don't see how an IFS would be more prone to breaking CVs with a front auto locker. If you drive around on dry pavement in 4wd, then I could see it breaking the CV joints. But with it in 2wd, the locker will just ratchet. When wheeling, it should prevent broken CVs as long as you take advantage of the fact that you no longer need to use momentum as much, but can just crawl.
