Anyone lowered their 4runner?

Funny you should ask...
I actually sold those springs to Zubaltec back in the day. I bought them before I found this site and was still in go fast mode when I bought my first 4Runner. Zubaltec's ride was S/C'd... he actually used (might still) work for this tuner, maybe you have heard of them... Titan Motorsports? At the time they used to have the fastest street legal supra in the US. He doesn't post here much b/c 9 times out of 10 everyone would flame him for not being on the lifted/muddy bandwagon.
Anyway, you could always just drop some stock 2wd springs in if you want to keep your stock ride. If you want a bit more handling I would go with the PP springs and some Bilstein HD shocks. I had the OME HD lift springs with the BilsteinHDs and that thing cornered like a go cart. And believe me... the road I used to drive to work was over 130 turns in 8mi and probably 1/3 of them were switch backs. Between that setup and the Revos that thing stuck like glue ESPCIALLY for a lifted truck. I can't imagine what it would do lowered slightly with some beefier sway bars. Honestly, I would start with a set of Bridgestone Duller AT Revos... for street use, I wouldn't buy anything else, especially when it comes to wet traction. Plus, they don't look TOO pansy.

Ok, so I found the springs... just a 1" drop right? So my drop wont be as much as the black one correct? Not sure if 1" will even look any different.
But as far as the bilsteins, they have different travels and everything, any idea what I should look for?

where is it that you get more than an inch drop springs? that are thicker or progressive in rate? i dont want to put the 2wd springs in my rig. also, how much drop do the 2wd springs drop you?

Those lowered 4runners that are scraping the asphalt are ugly as hell.
If you do it right, you can make it look good.
He did a good job on this one. I wonder if he needed a lateral rod?
Edit: Did he replace the front bumper? The signals and fog lights are in different locations.

This is something I don't understand. Why lower a vehicle designed to go off road. It's heavy, low power-to-weight ratio and the everything is set up to deal with the challenges posed by traveling on an unpaved surface.
People with lowered SUV's just look like morons to me. THere are plenty of powerful, rear drive cars around that will handle much better and you won't look like a puff driving them. A Ford Mustang how about. They're cheap-ish, easy to customize and go fast. Even they will out corner a 4Runner.
Then again, if you want to buy a vehicle with lots of space, I'm sure there are minivans out there that will fit your needs much better than a formerly rugged off road truck turn mall-cruiser.
Someone please rid me of my evident naivety.

A saying comes to mind, "If you don't have anything constructive to say...."
Minivan?? C'mon... I hardly know a female that would drive a minivan much less a guy. I for one, will never drive a mini-van. No matter how practical they are... Plus, if you READ THE THREAD, they aren't wanting to slam it, just lower it a bit for daily driving. Why use a 4Runner for a daily driver? It actually doesn't get bad mileage if you a, lift it and but big heavy tires on it or b, drive like a race-car driver. Lets see... they are reliable as hell, can tow if needed and you can find them cheap... Sounds like a good dd to me...? I personally haul a lot of crap around with me especially film equipment which would not fit into a car. (even a full size) and go look at most sedans now-a-days, hardly any of them have rear folding rear seats..??
Anyway...
My assumption is the 1" lowering springs are meant for the 2wd so if you have a 4x4 then it would be 2". If I remember correctly the lowering springs were progressive. I can't comment on ride b/c I never got them installed before shipping them off to Zubaltec.
Cool,
Why do you think Zubaltec's truck is too low? It appears to still be well over 1ft off the ground. It looks lower than it is b/c of the huge side steps he has on there. Also the tires he has on there are probably pretty tall. We are used to seeing 15-16" wheels but those are 18s so they might seem low profile-ish looking but they probably aren't as small as you think.

Of all the thousands of 4runners that have been sold, how many are actually driven off road?
Some people buy 4runners because of the style (can't blame them). Maybe they need it to load whatever it is they need. Maybe they have a family and have kids. I'd rather have a 4runner than some crappy ass minivan. People wanting to lower a 4runner aren't doing it to race a Viper or a Vette. Maybe some folks don't go off roading anymore and use their 4runner for streets now.
In the end, people love 4runners, off roading or not. Let them do whatever they want (except slamming them 1" off the ground).

There are some great vans out there. The mid ninety Volkswagen van I had was far more functional than my 4Runner for hauling stuff around, carrying people and even took a direct a direct hit from a dump truck on the highway, which I walked away from with only a slipped disc. It was diesel and 5spd as well.
It seems to me that people go to stupid lengths to play up an image when a much more practical solution is at hand.

i actually first got my runner because it had 4 doors and i have kids, i liked the way it looked and the 4WD was just a plus. now i have found this whole other dimention with lockers, MT's, winches, slidershella 500s and ect ect ect. I personally like the higher side of the spectrum, but IDGRA what other people do and i even like some of the trucks that are lowered. but anyways, dont lookif it hurts your eyes and absalutly dont post
