Kyle-

That's a 3.0, see the distributor?

Looks fairly similar at first glance though.

Nice looks like you went all out on painting it. I hope you used some high temp like 1700 deg paint on the exhaust manifolds because the 500 deg stuff will burn right off.
As far as installing make sure you have a second person to help you install it. It helps when you are trying to align the transmission to the pilot bearing i used a jack and raised my transmission slightly to aid in aligning it.

What upgrades did you make on this motor? I need some ideas for when my 3.0 will need rebuilding (if ever)

I'm pretty sure you just drop it from about 5 feet and it settles into place by itself.

Looks like you did a really good job.

I would seriously urge you to try and go with Headers right now.

It's a perfect time for the upgrade and you'll really like the extra rpms out of it being able to breathe better.

My advice is bite the bullet. since you've come this far you shouldn't stop short.

besides, ....ya know ya want to!!

I agree. Now is the perfect time for headers. Man, that thing looks great. Have you considered getting the intake and plenum ported and polished while you have it off? That is an awesome mod IMO.

I think you will have better luck if you take the fan pulley and crank pulley off. Give you a little more room.

Auto or stick?

If stick make SURE the clutch and the pilot are aligned. Don't ask how I know.

I looked and looked. The only new pair I could find were the NWOR and they wanted something like $850 for those. Downey was going to be a couple months before they starting making them and Thorely's would be 5-6 months. I looked for used, but there were none available.

I started a thread about that and it got many hits. Click this to check it out.

I never got to do anything, but the airbox mod and oversize the pistons by 30/1000. Money was a major factor. If I had a couple more bucks to use (which I had none this time around  ) this is what I would have done:

Over size the valves
Airbox deckplate mod
Bore out throttle body
Headers
Exhaust

Basically just let this thing breath...

I got the stuff that was 1200 deg and cooked it on for about 3 hours at 400 deg. That is what all the red is. Everything else is powder coated.

I will keep a jack handy! Thanks!

Yup. I also concidered not having any money. Well I sold my gun so I could get the pistons done. Now I have no gun and no get away car and the banks aren't even open by the time I get home from work, so.....

Auto...

I will probably do that with the pulleys. They are easy enough to get on and off. Thanks!
