Thumbs up Anyone have their stock CD player?

My 4runner i just got (1998) came w/ a tape player and i was wondering if it was possible to install a cd player out of another 4runner/tacoma or anything?

If so, do any of you possibly still have your stock cd players?

I have my stock cd player, but let me tell you how you should get an aftermarket.

There is a thread around here about the Scion Pioneer MP3 head units. Maybe that would work for you? I'm looking into it myself.

I also still have the stock CD sitting in my closet. Get aftermarket with new speakers.

You REALLY don't want mine. 2 reasons (1) it is still installed and being used, (2) it skips and "sqeeks" something awful! <-That is why I recomended an aftermarket one.

Sorry I can't be more of a help.

yea i switched mine out for that same reason... after it got hot (after about 15 mins of driving w/a cd playing), it would make a little beeping/squeeking noise at every little tiny road bump/inflection. it was SO annoying.

I find that mine isn't related to the heat though. It appears that it is off balance or something. When I go around corners/turns (mostly left) it does the squeek thing. When it starts squeeking I can usually eject and reinsert it to make it stop. I've had good/mixed results preventing it. Almost time to upgrade though.
