If you don't need alot of bass just start off with an amp and some good comps. If you still want more you can think about a sub.

How are the 8s doin? I wanted to make one ported SA8 in my MR2. They say you can go down to .6 cubes ported. I want to put 5-600 watts on it.

Well I've had people swear they were 15's until they saw them lol. Tune them low and they sound great! I've punished these little guys and they are still going strong. I have stock electrical right now but that will change when i can afford it. I've put 1200 to both of mine on 1 ohm and they love it. I'll try to get a video tonight.

I don't have any subs or anything.
But I do have a kenwood eXcelon x794 head unit, and 4 premium kenwood door speakers.

With bass boost stage 2, that thing cranks!

just got some kickers speaker gonna install them in my doors, it'll pound with my pioneer 760w + single 12 mtx audio subs. I bought the kickers for 200 bucks flat for the 6 1/2 in the front and 5 1/4 in the back.

Is it normal for the amp to actually heat up really really hot? Sometime i'll smell some fabric burning heating up lol.

I would say if you can't
touch it then somethings wrong. But I know some run pretty warm.

lets put it this way. i just bought it off my buddy out of his honda 2 door car. we had just enough wiring lol. Also not to mention his head unit sucks and on the wiring it had regular car fuse, which was like at 30. So we hooked up my system and didnt even have it past halfway turned up and it was already pounding like crazy. Next thing we know, the fuse blew. I decided buy a new inline fuse holder and the right fuse (clinderish looking).

Still, it seems that it's running a tad bit too hot. I'm not even cranking on the volume to max.

PS: i think imma bring it to a local shop and see what they say. Maybe i'm making it a big deal over something small lol. It's my first setup

How big is the power and ground wire for the amp? if its 8 gauges, its a no no. You should have 4 gauges power and ground for the amp and at least 80amps fuse. a bad ground can make amp work harder. check it.

Question.....isn't it a bad idea to mount an amp to a sub box? Seems the vibration wouldn't be such a good thing for it?

OK, that's what I was thinking. Just doesn't seem like it would last very long with the vibes a sub kicks out. I've got to figure out another place to put one to run a sub in my 1st gen runner. Right now I've got the following:
Kenwood 645BT deck
RF 4.6x amp
RF 4" dash
RF 6.5" doors
Pioneer 6x9 back panels
I have a JL sub in a bandpass box that I've got temp hooked up to a Kenwood 200w amp, just have to find a good way to mount everything so the box is easily removable for hunting season or if I need to haul something. I think this sub could use more power, but I have this amp and have too many other things to get to finish this thing.

Why can't you mount the amp under your driver seat? Is the seat too low or what?? That would be the best option if you want to pull your sub when you hunt, just unplug it and tape off the wires...

Heres the vid you requested of my 2 little 8's. Fast forward to 3:20 if you want to see the window flexing.

i finally got my speakers in. I had to get creative about the mounting part, which was fun lol. but sorta a pain.

Anyways, so me and my buddy went out for a ride to see how the system pounds. It sounds nice. Only problem is that we smell something burning? At first i thought it could've been the amp, but it didnt seemed too hot. So my next guess was one of the wires are heating up.

4rx, it's an 8 gauge and has 50 amp fuse. How come you said that it's a no go?
