It was free, but I've never heard my system without it so I can't tell you if it was worth the effort. lol

Ive got about 200 in my 82's system. Kenwood HU, POS front and rear speakers. POS amp. POS free subs. POS wood for box. And I'll tell you what, it sounds like a POS system HAHA! But much better than the 2 4''s from the factory. I can hear it fine with both windows down at 70 with no distortion. Good enough for a POS truck.
HA HA HA!!! I don't even want to start to calculate my total cost!!! I did save some money by switching to GEICO!!!

i have a kenwood deck
50watt amp wired to the 4" infinity speakers in the dash
then 150 watt TMA 6.5's in the back custom fit in the stock amp speaker enclosure thingy
then 2 12" 800 watt audiobahn subs powered by a capacitor and orion cobalt 800 watt amp
it hits hard but some of the gear is old, the subs are pretty old but still hit hard, rattle the interior and glass, and you can hear it coming!! ill post up pics later when i get home, im at school right now

I have a 900w Fosgate mono-amp and 2 10" Fosgate P2's. I got the whole system from a good buddy of mine for like 40 bucks (brand new) like 5 or 6 YEARS ago and It's still plenty loud. I'm very surprised they've lasted this long. For my dash it's just a $100 JVC I bought for the aux input to play my iPod. Looking to upgrade but exterior comes first.

Doing a build on my '97, have most of the info I need I believe. Should be a typical build - here's what I've found:

Antenna - diversity antenna in rear window - I'm getting the Scosche MDA1B (small wire to big wire) and Metra 40-UV43 (Y adapter) parts so I can plug into an aftermarket head unit. Also need to replace my dead power antenna.

Here is a question though - what speaker adapters do I need for the front & rear doors? I see these as options:

Metra 72-8102 - Door Speaker Connector for Select Toyota Vehicles
Metra 72-8104 - Speaker Connector for Select Toyota Vehicles
Metra 72-8106 - Speaker Harness for 1995 Toyota Tercel
Metra 72-8107 - Speaker Harness for Select Toyota Solara/Sienna/T-100/Tercel
Metra 72-9301 - Speaker Connector for Select Toyota/Mitsubishi Vehicles

Anyone used any of these adapters for their 4Runner? If so - let me know what year your truck is.

Yo SLYTY that pretty crazy. I'd just forget about the mirror at that point. Or try to mount it to the ceiling.

OK guys I think I'm ready to build a ported box. Remember my sub stats from page 2?

It says 4.5 cubes per sub. Tuned to 34hz. Do you think this is an ok frequency to have them tuned to? I was thinking more like 38 or 39hz. How would I calculate the correct port size for that frequency?

I'm imagining a finished product that will look just like 4rx's but upside down, in order to keep the subs below the window line. And instead of 6 cubit feet it will be 9 cubic feet.

SLYTLYSCRAMBLED, chea! congrats on breaking it! haha good thing is that i have my rearview mirror attached on the roof, not on the windshield. you are seriously underpowering subs. get the 2nd amp!

toylocost, most people prefer low tuned 30-34hz, but myself like high tuned to 40's hz just because I liked the way it is. maybe you could go to several car audio shop to listen ported box. are you sure you want a box that is tuned to 38 or 39hz? dont you want the port and subs firing toward to the back? i'm not sure what you are meaning of upside down, like SLYTY's sub box setup?

my new box will be under the window line as well

The only reason I wanted it tuned higher is because I listen to mostly rock. I figured it would be suited better for that frequency. If you think I would be good at 34hz I'll leave it that way because thats the measurements they gave me.

then go for higher tuning frequency...You need to shortening port length a bit.

Thanks man. Ok so I think I have my box measurements down.

These are INSIDE measurements. Not including the thickness of the wood.
BOX - WIDE/TALL/DEEP - 43" X 18.5" X 18.5"
PORT - LONG/WIDE/DEEP - 18.5" X 4" X 7.66"

This was my best attempt at an 8.517 cubic foot box at 38hz.

Here is the WinISD screen shot. 4rx does this look good?

Couple renderings. After looking at this I'm thinking "How could that possibly be 8.5 cubic feet?"

Well.. I havent gone through everyones yet but I'm pretty sure mines one of the biggest... Lol

I got 8 12"s total.

2 Rockford Fosgate Punch HE's with a 1000 watt Sony Explode Amp
2 Rockford Fosgate Punch P2's with a 1200 watt Soundstream Amp(Its a off brand but it hits hard)
2 Pioneer... Umm something or other's with 1600 watt... Umm Another off brand amp. Works fine.
2 Ultimate PS12's with a 1200 watt Sony Explode amp.

This is only temp though.
I will be working on my design for my new box.
It will house 4 15 inch Autobahn subs all running on one Maxximus amp.
That will be the system that will flex my doors a bit lol.
But that also means another alternator and some ultima batteries.
Anyone got any ideas on a cool housing for the batteries?

I think you mean Optima batteries?

And that post was worthless without pics. How on earth did you fit that in there.
