Anyone Ever...

Switch the driverside bottom seat cover with the passenger seat cover. I currently have 2 4runners and I am switching good parts from one to the other(selling one). Both drivers seats are ripped/torn but the passenger seats are both in good shape so I thought I could just swap the covers over.

Couldn't you just use two passenger seats? I have read about people swaping seats to even out the wear.

I did this on a 91 Honda Civic once. The non-power driver seat cushion was trashed and I found a good passenger seat cushion with the same color. Had to remove the seat from the vehicle of course and carefully dismantle the seat assembly and remove just the cushion and transplant it. Had to do a little surgery on the foam to get it to fit right on the driver side, but it turned out fine. Didn't need special tools. Took a while and had to be patient.

Someone on here did it and put up a write up with pictuers. Try searching around. If I find it i'll post it up. I'd like to do it. With the seat back too. Good luck.

*Found it.

The thead linked above is depicting an earlier vehicle than a 3rd gen 4Runner or 1st gen Tacoma. Good overall tutorial but probably won't be an identical procedure if you own a vehicle I have mentioned. Nonetheless I was also wondering if seat covers could be swapped from passenger to driver side. I was going to try to swap mine but decided I will just get some Wet Okole covers instead. In my research I did find that the passenger seat covers and the driver seat covers have different part numbers. What makes them unique I have no idea...

I am waiting for warmer weather befor I attempt to do this, the only thing I forsee being a problem is the holes for the power switches.

Well had some time on my hands and took the seat outand guess what 4bolts and the bottom part was out, within an hour I had swapped them and bolted back in the truck.
Piece of cake.

Shoot didnt think of it, but it was real easy. Once the side covers are off you will see 2 bolts on each side, once they are out the bottom seat pad comes right out. In my case I had another truck to take from.
