Well, the title pretty much says it all. So? I have a 88 first gen if it matters.

 

That stuff is awful heavy to get the proper protection. You also have the prep work to make it stick, and those would be tough area to prep correctly for it to stick. I'd just use some undercoating spray paint.

 

I thought about it...then found out how much they want for it $400 for the bottom 2" of the body all the way around...Undercoating is the best for your fenderwells, thats what its made for.

 

I used Herculiner on the bottom parts of all my body panels, and I love the stuff. If you are patient, you can sometimes find the full bedliner kit for around $45-50 and it is more than enough to do the outside of the body. Also by applying it yourself, you can lay it up as thick as you want. No more rock dings in the bottom of my doors!

Yeah the phone quote was 300-400 dollars. A whole pickup bed is between 400 and 500. I am still baffled by this.

 

Man you guys must be getting seriously hosed on your line-x prices. I got my Line-X over the rail bedliner, sprayed, on my truck, by Line-X, by the owner/manager of the local Line-X shop and it cost me $425 CANADIAN funds (not including tax). The guy did an outstanding job and I LOVE the texture of line-x so much better than Rhino or others.

 

I saw somewhere some guy Herculined his whole Jeep. Whatever works for you.

 

It was like $400 for my bed over the rail...the reason they say the trimming is so much is because so much of the product is wasted and because of the extra prep time.

 

I'm cutting my fenderwells out now, and it will be line-x'd or Rhino lined, whichever I decide whenever the time comes.

Just a suggestion...before you Line-X or undercoat make sure you high pressure wash the heck out of your undercarriage. If you have any remnants of road salt anywhere that gets encapsulated in there it will cause you problems later...

 

I'm not doing the undercarriage. I'm doing the sides of my truck where my limited fender flares used to be.

I am planning on doing this to my quarter panels as well as they are goinig to get pretty dinged up from the road I live on...haven't looked at pricing, maybe thats why I still think theres a chance that I'll do it!

Same here, but regardless of the cost, I'm doing it. I'm committed now that I've already cut some of my fenders. There's no turning back now!

Think I might go with the Herculiner. I can't take a loan out to do the Line-X. Seems to me everybody is getting "hosed" by this company. I guess I can understand that much for a truckbed, but for quarter-panels?!!?

 

It's a lot more taping to do the quarter panels, and it's no comparison to the herculiner.

I figure $400 is reasonable to basically put the line-x where my stock limited fender flares were. Yes, but just to do the quarter panels, I'd have to see what you guys had in mind.

Then that's a ripoff price for just that for $400.

Those are the rocker panels...quarter panels are the front fenders
