Arrow Any Last Thoughts......

K. So I have a 1994 Pickup with a 22RE. It has a timing problem. When the terminals are jumped the engine won't retard, so it can't be timed properly. Besides a TPS problem, does anyone have any ideas what the problem may be? One mechanic told me it may be a MAF sensor problem, but I'm not so sure about that. I just would rather figure it out before I have to resort to taking it into the dealer. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

I have herd the plastic guides for the timing chian can break causing a loose chain and inconsistant timing. This sounds to me like a likely explanation.

yeah, they DO break, but in my experience the tensioner still had enough in it to take up the slack so it didn't make a difference with the timing.
