Yes, I have already doe a search, but didn't see anything on this.
I was wondering if anybody had tried this on a new V8? If so, was there any problems and could you tell a major difference? I saw K&N has their intake available for the V8 but I know the mod is much cheaper.

I think I saw someone do a deckplate mod on tundrasolutions.com.
If you're interested in doing this mod, it should be relatively easy to do and should have no problems. As for performance gains, can't really say but you figure you may gain 1hp?

I did before I adapted the tundra FIPK. Just cut off the front and left side of the airbox, leaving the bottom to attach back to the metal, and the right side to shield the cold air...definitely seemed to help. Was gonna post pics, but threw on the FIPK before I did. I used some butel (sp?) to secure the K&N to the remaining bottom part of the box. This should be pretty self explainitory...also turn the little round plastic air tube around in the fender to deflect more cold air into the filter. Let me know if you need any help. This is not really a deckplate mod, just a cheap way to open up the air to the filter and gain a few hp. It is not a reversable process, as you would have to buy a new lower half to the air box. Good Luck.
