Leave it the new guy to ask a lift question. I have read the lift threads, and there is an overwhelming amount of info for nearly every manufacture / fab for lifting the Runner. I like simple choices, like going to McDonalds and choosing only one of 4 burger choices...easy.

My big quetion is lifting a stock 99...should I even bother using new OME coils for a 3" since the stock '99 had a higher profile to begin with? These may have already sagged to the point that they will...should I use the stock coils with the 3" spacer kit?

I am price sensitive, but do have $$$$ budgeted for the lift- just want to do it right the first time with the results I want ( about 3" lift) and then it is done, no more changes. It is a daily driver and Colorado trail driver, but nothing crazy where i would need a great amount of articulation or flex (or at least that is what I'm telling myself. It does have the E-locker, so I'm sure this thought will change....

 

Why don't you look at our System 7 lift. Results are tried and true and the same every time.

I ordered the front and rear OME kit for my 2000 4WD 4Runner and I love it (Got it from a yotatech sponsor). It lifted it ~2.5 inches, and the off-road ride is amazing. I just wanted to be able to drive off-road and down fire roads at higher speeds, it's very smooth now. The kit cost me ~$700 for front/rear, I went with the medium shocks which provide great ride on road as well, it's a little softer than stock when cornering at higher speeds, you can feel the body(suspension) roll a bit. But it's s truck not a sports car, and the off-road ride more than makes up for it.

 

If you want to do it right and do it once go with sschaefer3's lift. I have had mine for over a year now I put alot of miles on the truck both on and offroad both for business and pleasure. Steve knows whats up. So prior to your lift purchase read all the progress of his lifts through the years, this is what I did and I am extremely happy with my purchase.

I also have the front and rear OME kit for my 2000 4Runner and love it. I bought it from Slee Offroad in Golden for $680 and installed it myself. I was a little concerned about the HD setup being a bit stiff but it turned out not too bad. This is my daily driver as well. My wife is driving it right now in the snow and the stiffness doesn't seem to bother her either.

 

Lift #7 is perfect. It rides great, and looks great. And the rear OME coils hold up alot better than stock coil when packing the 4runner to the maximum.

 

Anyone else for a 3rd gen lift is a waste of time.

I vote for a kit from steve. I just installed the system #1 a few weeks ago and its awesome. The ride is great and the kit comes with everything!

 

If I were starting over... I would, without hesitation order from Steve @ Sonoran Steel. He's got all the parts right there in a nice kit-form. You'll get everything you need.

 

Ditto to the last several posts on SS, unfortunately the kits weren't available when most of us "veterans" (I use the term loosely) started down the path to modification on our 3rd gens. If I were just starting again and wanted to go to a 2.5" lift, I would most definately just give Steve a call and order the #7 kit from him. He's done all the testing for you, it's a complete no brainer. In the end I finally got what I wanted now for a 2" lift, but it took alot of research, experimentation and wasted $$$$ to get there.
