another 31x10.5 question
ok.........so i got my tires in from costco, but they say they wont install them because they're afraid they'll rub on the frame. 99 tac 4x4 v6. it came with 30.5" from the dealer when i bought it new.
there's plenty of room in the wheel well, but they say they're afraid of a sharp turn rubbing agains the frame.
2 questions................ should i take them somewhere else to have installed and wait until i get a 1.5" or 2" cornfed kit installed? will they rub the frame on a turn? i think i have 8" rims.
or................ wait until i get the lift installed and have them installed afterward...........but will the lift kit prevent rubbing on a sharp turn?
thanx all

What kind of rig are you working on? I say, just take your rims w/ your old tires down to them, have them mnake the switch, and re-install them yourself. 31x10.5's wont rub on most rigs, though my '90 did rub slightly at full turn in reverse at compression. IF they wont do it and you dont want to, go somewhere else. Discount tires is cheaper AND has EXCELLENT service.

I highly doubt they would rub, I have a stock '95 with the exception of Downey HD coils in the back and I have zero rubbing with my 31x10.50 at full turn.
I just say go somewhere else...

99 Taco TRD's come with that tire size. If you look on the costco web site that size is a option. At least it is on my 2000. I have that size and have no rubbing issues. Look on the web site and print that page and show it to them. They will install them. Discount tire may be about the same amount or a little cheaper on the tires but they rape you on the warranty, balancing and rotations. All that is free/included at Costco.

yeah..........i tried to show them on their computer that it was an option for the truck, but they still wouldnt install.
that's ok................ i've got an appt in the am for install at a local tire dealer. free balance and rotation as well.
thanx all for the info. i didnt think i was crazy, but if i actually was crazy i probably wouldn't know i was crazy enough to doubt whether or not i was crazy.

Hey guys
E Aho Laula = Wider is better. They said it cant be done. A 15x 10 rims on a stock 2nd gen 1990 4runner without lifting and no rubbing. well I beg to differ....
Im Just bought a set of 15 x 10 Xtreme Alloys 1869, at 4wheelXXXXX sorry no free plugs here, for $212 for all 4 rims and removed my 31 x 10.5 tires from the old factory stock rim. Yes they are bubbled out like JLo's butt, but lets just say their Phat!!! I even tried them aired down to 18PSI no problems. I got that mini monster truck look with a full wheel well. No rubbing however its a tight fit as the wheel sticks out almost 2.3 inches. The true test will be at Pismo Beach on Saturday 11-29
I'm a surfer and need a serious beach cruiser therefore E Aho Laula (wider is better) after all a Hummer H1 is low and wide.... The runner now feels like its a stabler platform with limited swaying. Ill try to post some pic soon. If anyone has any tips on the 31x12.5's please feel free to voice yourself
thanks Big Kahuna
