Amp turn-on alternatives?...my Remote Control Signal is Jacked

Just hooked up 2 8's and an amp in the Taco Doublecab...except for some reason the remote turn-on signal from my deck is messed up...it only turns on when in Tuner mode and not in any other modes (like CD, DVD, or iPod). Is there another easily accessible signal I can use in it's place? Maybe Daytime Running Lights or something?

You are confusing an amp turn on lead with your power antenna feed. Some radios cut power to the antenna when switching to CD. Sounds like that's the lead you are attempting to use.

Just run another wire from the switched lead behind your radio. The turn on signal doesn't really draw anything. If running alot of amps, you might want to use the switched lead to operate a relay to provide more turn on lead juice. If only a couple of devices, no need for the relay.

You're right, it's gotta be the power antenna lead. Arg! Somehow it got switched around...cause the line I connected to was blue and had a "remote con." label, so it musta been put in the wrong pin for the deck.
So where do I find this switch lead?

Headunits always have a constant 12v and a switched 12v. It's usually yellow if the radio headunit is after market. Get a multimeter and probe the wires while turning the key on and off. The one that goes from 0v to 12v when you turn the key is the right wire.

www.the12volt.com probably has wiring color codes for your Taco - that's where I got my codes when I needed them before.

if its an aftermarket deck, there will be 2 blue leads, one for the Ant.( the one you tapped) and another for the Remote turn on....in most cases one will be striped to differentiate the 2...usually the Ant lead.
