ALternator Swap Questions
Okay I have searched but didnt find the exact info I was looking for. The alternators on our trucks now (I have an 04 D Cab PreRunner) what amp are they rated at? and the MR2 alt we can swap in, I have heard of doing that, is it a direct bolt in? is the pulley different, and therefore needs smaller/larger belts? And what amp is it rated at? Thanks for any info.

I think the stock alternator is about 60-70 amps.

According to Checker auto's web site, the replacement alts for your model are 80amp. Which MR2 are you talking about? There is a 1.8 liter Spyder for 1999 and newer that is 80 amp also. There are mid 90's 2.0 and 2.2 liter engines (I looked at a 1994 listing and forget now which engine) that had 70, 80, and 90 amp rated parts. If you really want juice, that GM swap sounds like the way to go.
