Alternator going bad...
Well first off my battery is done. I had the guy test the alternator with one of the testers they hook to the battery and it was reading like 12.4 volts. He said it should be up around 14 somewhere (you know like 14.4V). Im not sure if the dead battery is affects his reading or not so im gonna go pick up another battery tomorrow and have them test the alt again after the battery is installed.
Now on to my real question. I've got a 1000W amp and I know the load can get a little much on the alt so if it is bad I would like to use this time to upgrade to a alternator with more output. I saw the thread about the gm alternator but didnt see what vehicles it came out of or where to get one.
My real question is, what higher output alternators will fit an 02 tacoma 3.4?
The cheaper the better as always but i wouldnt want to sacrifice quality.
Thanks
Sam

You can test you old alt. by turning the truck on and putting a screw driver or something metal up the the middle of the alt. pully and if it pulls the screwdriver like a magnet then it is still good but if not then your alt. is bad.

Yeh i did the test where you pull the positive wire off the battery and it still ran. I guess I'll look into some sort of GM alt. Still not sure on what all needs to be modified to make it work. Ideally I would get a bolt on application that i could do in 30 min. Hassel free.
