Alarm remote?

Alarm remote?
I'm looking to replace the alarm remote for my '98 4runner. Ebay has a boat load of them, and for cheap too, but I was curious if there are any alternatives to the factory style. Does anybody know if there is an all in one key/remote system like newer cars have? Or is there a decent replacement remote out there? If not, I'll be happy with the factory style, just thought I would ask.

X2. I'm looking for alternatives as well for my '97. I'm down to one remote now. The design of this thing is just silly, bulky and the pillar for keychain is weak. Consequently I carry it around separately from my keychain.
Has anyone upgraded the factory alarm for something newer---or at least is there a different key fob that will work? I believe I have the RS 3000 (black oval fob with two buttons, little dimples on one of them).

I have a 2002 4Runner SR5 and mine did not come with a factory alarm. I didn't think it was a very big deal until my car got broken into.
I ended up buying a Viper 2-Way alarm and I love it! I have some pretty expensive stereo equipment in my car so the alarm that I bought definitely gives me peace of mind. There are a lot of different systems with different features (2-Way communication, remote start, etc.) depending on your price range. I would reccommend getting a Viper system from Best Buy because professional install is included in the price. Here is the link for the one that I bought. I hope this helps.
