Just installed the Airaid MIT yesterday, and there is a real diffenence in throttle response, especially in 2nd, 3rd on my auto. I also lost this weird engine rumble/vibration when topping out on those gears, probably due to the other intake tube with that airbox thingy.

The True Flow will be arriving on Monday, can't wait to see if that improves things also.

All in all a good mod.

Are you sure?? My 97 has stock wires and they are Sumitomo. I have seen dyno tests that prove that Sumitomo wires are provide a better spark than an aftermarket $150 set of MSD's.

I went and got the True Flow kit from Jason B (Thanks a bunch!!), and installed it the other day. I have to say the but dyno says theres something there. How much?? Not sure. I was hoping my Auterra software that I ordered would be in before I put it in but I couldn't wait any longer. The box was starting at me and I had no choice.

Its alot louder than I expected. Around the 4000RPM range its got sort of an angry snort, but for everyday commuting you don't really hear that much. Could be in part to having the deck plate open. All in all its a very nice and simple kit. Installed in 10 minutes. I am going to re-install the stock intake, and get a baseline for power, then install the True Flow kit again, and test again. See what I come up with for numbers to justify the cost of the kit.

Bladt from the past, but have these in stock again. This WILL help with gas mileagem, I guarantee it.

It's larger diameter, more flow, mandrel bent, black powdercoated steel and comes with a true flow filter.

I had the MIT and deckplate mod for about 4 years with a TRD airfilter. Recently i closed it and did the elbow mod with a AFE Pro Dry filter...alot better sounding, much quieter.

What is your opinion of the AFE dry filter so far? It looks like a miracle drug in a sense, and am considering purchasing one.

Wow, JB.
You sure did pick an oldie!!

I had both the Airaid MIT and True Flow filter on my '99 4Runner and loved them both.
The MIT along with the deckplate mod really did help performance, not a big improvement in gas mileage but more power for same mileage - can't beat that.

Glad it worked out for ya, you might see a slight increase in mileage but I doubt it to be hones.
Have you done the deckplate? If not, I highly suggest you do it - it will make the Airaid shine.
