Air Compressor Question
Hey all,
I have a Craftsmen Professional 175PSI Compressor. My frekn Air gun cant even take off lug nuts.. What do you think the problem could be?
Bad Air Hose?
Junk Air Gun ?
30GL / 175PSI is good for a home I though... dont know... let me know what you all think

I will keep you posted on this, I am going to sears today and I am going to buy a PSI Gauge to see what PSI is at the end of the hose..

What's the make/model of the compressor? Does it have a CFM rating plate on it?

The only other recommendation I have is to be sure the compressor is plugged directly into a wall outlet, you should avoid extension cords when using air compressors. Hoses are raely the culprit unless they leak like crazy.
Just my $.02

I don't think it has anything to do with your compressor, I think it is the settings on the compressor and the tool.
I know this sounds simple but...
Make sure you have the pressure regulator (the outfolow to the impact tool) set around 110 # or so. If you have a tank full of air and the pressure is set low then it will not push the tool.
Also,
The tool should have a setting on it to regulate the torque applied to the nut. Make sure the torque setting is set pretty high when removing the lug nuts. If the setting is low the tool will not take the nuts off. Make sure it is set very low when mounting the lug nuts then finish torquing with a good torque wrench by hand to the manufacturers specs.

A 175 psi compressor sounds like one of those nail gun compressors with the little tanks. Is that what it is? If so the tank may be too small to deliver the needed CFM. I too doubt the hoses are the problem unless they are leaking like crazy.

How about if I say this again: PSI DOES NOT EQUAL CFM.
A large tank is only one of the factors in delivering large CFM. I have a sand blast cabinet that I had a 25 gallon 4 or 5 HP compressor (single stage) unit driving it. It was not enough. I'm scouting 2 stage compressors currently. Now THOSE move some air!!
There may be some type of restriction in the regulator or some blockage in the hose. If it is new, maybe there is an outside chance that there was some foreign matter in the tank that got lodged in the regulator or hose.
Just a thought.

From what you said, seems like everything should work. I'd bet the people that toque your lug nuts over did it. Try using a cheater bar and loosen one of the nut and tighten it back to 90lb. and see if you can loosen that with the air tool.
