I know I am late to this thread, but I have had a total of five vehicles with sunroofs – four were factory and one was an ASC, which according to the original owner was installed by the dealer when the car was new. I never had a problem with leaks on any of them. I sold the car with the ASC when it was 11 years old with 175k miles and the only problem I had with the sunroof was that the switch would occasionally not work. And you could also tell that the switch was not factory. I would think that you could get a factory overhead console with switch to use if you wanted, though.
Have you had other vehicles with sunroofs? I ask to see if you know how much you would want to use it. I know I don’t use mine much here in South Carolina. In fact I used mine the other day for the first time since the spring – it’s much too hot to use them in the summer. I have lived in Tennessee and Ohio and got much more use out of them there. In Ohio, and even in Tennessee, it was often cool enough at night during the summer to use them, but it’s much too hot and muggy even at night here.
I think sunroofs are great on a nice cool fall or spring (or winter here in SC) night, though. I hardly ever use mine during the day because of the sun no matter how cool it is.

Wow, I love my sunroof. I open it up everyday, just not when the sun is out. It's pretty much open every morning and every evening.
I'm not sure I'd spend the money though on one if I didn't have it, especially since once it's done wrong, you can't go back. Just my two cents...

If you know you will use and enjoy it that much then I say go for it. Definitely research the installer, though. I'm pretty sure most dealers farm out sunroof installs so maybe call yours and ask who they use.
