Aftermarket steering wheel

Okay, so I did the search thing and only came up with Cebby's search for a Celica or MR2 steering wheel swap (or something of that nature).

Does anyone know a good place to get an aftermarket, non-airbag steering wheel?

Are there any pitfalls to watch out for when doing this kind of thing? I read somewhere else that a smaller wheel turns faster - that shouldn't be too hard to adjust to. Anything else?

Get a Summit Racing catalog. THey have about a hundred steering wheels listed. Mine is a Grant. Very comfortable feel, I like it.

So the installation kit and the wheel are separate, huh?
Is there any place that sells both like a combo kit to save on $?

i have a grant gt in mine... it is smaller however, this does make for harder to make turns... im tall though so i think it gives me more leg clearance as well... it was in the truck when i bought it....

it also doesnt help me with my turns becuase i have manual steering and 31" muds

Depends on what you want, but they are sold separately because the wheel is sort of universal and hub adapts it to specific vehicles. Prices for wheels run from $29 (Chrome and foam rubber ike for a dune buggy) to "sky's the limit." I've seen $450 wheels!!! The hub/horn kits are only about $18 usually, just consider that part of the price of the wheel... Mine is a 14" Grant FX2. (about $120+hub) I like it.

you lose the airbag though, wires hanging out for the horn, turn signals, wipers, cruise control ... all those levers are incorperated into the steering wheel.

The hub kit includes the horn button. The turn signals, wipers, cruise control ... all those levers are on the steering column and have nothing to do with the wheel. Mine didn't have factory airbags anyway so I didn't lose them.

By the way, anyone messing with an airbag steering wheel, be sure to disconnect the battery before removing the wheel and unplugging the wires for the airbag! The bag can go off and a wrench in the eye would ruin your day...
