aftermarket leather seats
I've been looking to get some leather seats for my truck, the kind that replaces the factory cloth seats and the door inserts. I've always had leather interior with other cars and i still miss it. I've been shopping for several months now on ebay and various other places and they usually run around $450-$600 I'll probably do the installs myself. They look something like this - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2417592996
I have the Grey interrior so...so two-tone seats would be nice.
has anyone done this? if so how are they holding up? any recommendations? any inputs or advices welcome. thanks guys

I agree that leather is the way to go. Those stories about dogs poking holes in the leather with their nails is a bunch of hooey. I've got 5 dogs, 3 of which are 75 pounds or over and they've tried and failed.
I bought a Toyta factory kit over Ebay last year and stuck it back, knowing that my leather was going to give out sometime. Well it gave up earlier this year. I've ordered the tools (two pair of hogring pliers, hogrings, and a stretcher) from Eastwood Co. over the weekend and will begin installation when they come in. I'll take pics and let you know how it goes. I don't expect it to be too difficult, having done a MGA with my Dad as a kid. It's mainly a case of removing the seats, undoing the hogrings, taking the old covers off, putting the new ones on, stretching them, hogringing them in place and reinstalling the seats.
The back seats may take some sewing where the carpet meets the leather, but I'll do it last, take it slow and try to figure out what the factory did. I can alway take it to a upholstery place for a little touch-up.
Good luck!

That's a pretty good price. Too bad it's not the right color for you. Check out the pics on my site. I bought a grey Classic Soft Trim kit from Ebay that was on clearance from them for $299 a year and a half ago. I took my time and did a seat a day. It came out looking factory.

They have since updated their website. They did have a "clearance" page when I was looking. Give them a call or email them and see if they have anything like that still.
I liked the TRD covers but they are way too much $$$ for me.
I liked the grey interior when I purchased my Runner, but Toyota didn't offer leather in grey for it. When I saw the kit for that price I jumped on it. Took awhile to complete but well worth the look and feel.
