Ok guys, this qualifies under the young and stupid sector...

I was at a party last night... someone said "kick the turbo up", lol big mistake, went to yank a donut.... lost every belt on the engine let loose, so i got an alternator/cooling belt on it, but how the heck do i get my a/c and power steering belts on? i cant find a way to pivot any of the pulleys to get some slack... any help would be appreciated...
1987 4runner turbo 22re... single belt wonder!

 

There's a bolt on the idler pulley bracket that allows you to adjust the tension on the belt. I believe the A/C pulley has one as well.

 

Is it the 12mm one behind the pulley that is at a slight angle?

ok, well i loosened it and the pulley didnt move at all... im gonna try again later.. i can live without p/s and a/c for now..

 

Try tapping on the pulley w/ a rubber mallet. Sometimes they stick.

LOL, just mild shaving and straight pipes for now, btw i have 2 snappers with 319 cc motors.... one could end up with a turbo.. i know a guy who's putting a turbo on one of his mowers... but first
i gotta get the darned thang to move....

 

loosen the nut in the middle of the pulley, then it'll move easily. Don't forget to tighten it back up afterwards.

 

I've always had to loosen the center pulley bolt and loosen the vertical diagonal bolt a bunch. (I guess its the tension adjustment) Then I tap on the vertical one to get the pulley to move.

 

Got it on.. went ahead and reused the old belt and saved the new one i already have for a roadside emergency... i loosened up
the top bolt only, about halfway out, got the belt over the idler, p/s pulley and about 1/4 the way on the crank pulley, and turned the motor over, woohoo it worked. thanks to all you guys who helped, ill worry about the a/c when it gets warmer...
