I have the same problem! I know this is an old thread, but, just to be correct, you need to buy the 6 ohm load eqaulizers. One for each side, and run them from the power wire to the ground wire right?

Also, does this make them dull?? I know 6 ohms isn't much, but.... curious!!'

The load resistors are put in parallel with the LEDs so have no impact on the current through the LED, so they are the same brightness. I made mine to plug into the trailer wiring connector while I ran the resistors.
