About to do the ECT mod, but....

WHERE IS THE ECT?!?!?! Has anyone done this mod on a 2nd gen yet? And if so, do you have pictures? I have tried testing several different components under the hood, and none seem to be it. That stupid repair manual i have only has a measly illustration that doesn't look a bit like what's under the hood. I'm really interested in trying this out, i just need to find the wire or the ECT so i can hook it up.....grrrrrrr

Hey Bucky,

I can find out where it is located for you. Give me a while and I'll get back to you with a location. Until then, more than likely the feed wire that goes from the ECT to the ECU is going to be some form of a Green wire, most likely with a stripe on it. Usually, on Toyotas, the ECT wire is Green.

On your engine, it is probably near the elbow that the Thermostat is in. There will probably be a few sensors near that location.

It'll take me a few hours before I can track that information down, but I will get back to you today.

Peace.

Okay, I found out where it is. According to the Service Manual, on the 3.0L, the ECT is located on the Intake Manifold beneath the Air Intake Plenum on the rear of the engine near the Firewall. Look for a Green/Blue wire. Green being the wire color and Blue being the stripe. I can't promise you that the wire will be that exact color combination, but it should at least be Green.

Hope this helps.
