A340F transmission problems/questions
Hi everyone, this is my first post on this forum, however not my first time asking about this problem that I’ve been having with my transmission.
So, pretty much what’s happening is I’m getting really hard shifts from 1-2-3-O/D. It’s almost like a little shudder between shifts. Sometimes it shifts perfectly fine. If I shift the car manually using the gear level, it shifts perfectly fine. Has anyone else ever had this problem before?
Another thing that I have recently noticed it doing is shifting into O/D even though I pressed the O/D off button. What could cause this? I have a 00’ so I have a kickdown cable which I’ve already tried adjusting. It made it a little better when I loosened it up but it’s not as good as it should be. I’ve done 3 drain and fills and replaced the transmission filter. I have also added a transmission cooler with an inline filter. I will attach a couple pictures of what the pan looked like when I pulled it off.
Please anything helps. I really don’t want to have to replace the transmission. Thank you!

These are generally very robust transmissions (mine has over 500,000 miles and has never given me an ounce of trouble). Are you the original owner?
if you're not the original owner, I wonder if the truck suffered from the 'strawberry milkshake' at some point. If the transmission cooler in the bottom of the radiator fails (they do), coolant & transmission fluid will intermix.
For what it's worth, I've preventatively replaced my radiator a few times over the last 20+ years. I've also done a complete transmission fluid flush (not drain & refill) every 100,000 miles.
Lastly, I dropped the pan and replaced the filter for the first time around 440,000 miles - because I was curious.
