99 toyota 4runner runs rich

help if anyone had this happen to them. My runner starts up great on its first initial startup then through out the day as I turn off and turn on my vehicle it starts to take longer to start up and when im starting the vehicle I can smell raw fuel from the tail pipe. The only way it would start is to press the fuel pedal to the floor and keep it there while I crank on it. When it starts the motor sounds like it's missing, also thick grey smoke comes out the tailpipe and the idle would stay rough for a minute or so.

things i did:
-swap ECM
-r/r idle air
-r/r map
-cleaned throttle body
-poured some expensive inject. cleaner

You should probably at least clean if not replace your plugs. Even if they're not the culprit they're surely pretty carbon'd up now.

I hope more people respond, I've got a similar problem. The only diff is that I cleaned and then replace the cold start injector and it still does it.

Not sure how you check it but check your fuel pressure regulator. Or at least check the vacuum lines going into it.

Might want to change your spark plug wires as well. My exhaust was pretty sooty but cleared up after changing the wires.

Ok, I've done the cap, plugs and wires, but not the O2. Just to be sure, it's located just before the muffler. Right? Or is there a second one I don't know about?

Thx Yotaman

As far as the fuel regulator, does anyone know how to check it? Or, is it a cheap part you just replace?
