99 4rnr alarm issue, searched searched searched
As said in title i have searched and searched some more and cant find the info i need. My key fob locks and unlocks the doors but apparently doesn't set the alarm.
Question is what do i do? If a reset is in order can anyone tell me how to reset the alarm/key fob on a 99 4rnr lmtd?

I have the oppisit problem. If I lock the doors with the fob, the alarm will go off sometime in the middle of the nite everytime. The Toyota dealership said it was in the owners manual about resetting, but I didnt see it. I just lock the doors manually and dont have any problems.

yeah i have the original factory owners manual and i dont see much about the alarm or anything about the resetting procedure.
I hopeful that there is some one on here that has more knowledge on this subject

is it the factory installed alarm with the mic/light in the console? if so is the red light on constantly? if it is, the alarm is probably in valet mode. i have the manual at home somewhere and can dig it out to figure out how to get it out of valet. but tahts only if the red light is on constant

those should have taken it out of valet mode, try it a few times. when i vought my most recent runner, before i yanked the factory alarm out, i played with the settings and it took a few tries on certain things before it took

i tried it multiple times, when it gets to the part where you hit the two buttons at the same time on the remote for more than two seconds, nothing ever happened. also the instructions show a two button remote and mine has three with a panic button on the back (as shown)

gotcha, the manual i gave you the link to is for a different factory installed toyota alarm system. try calling the local dealership to see if they can telly ou how to get it out of valet. not sure if this will work but its worth a shot. on some aftermarket alarms, to get the unit in and out of valet you do the following:
open drivers door
lock on remote
unlock on remote
lock on remote.
see if that does anything
open drivers door
lock on remote
unlock on remote
lock on remote.
see if that does anything

did you notice if there is a push style toggle button anywhere under the dash? near the hood pop or in the kick panel? if so that is the valet swtich. if you have one and can locate it, put the key in the ignition to the "on" position, hit and hold that button until the red light goes out, and you should be ok. if you cant find the switch i would call the stealership and see if they can give you any guidance
